Cam Skattebo Injury Update: Giants Rookie RB Out for Season After Severe Ankle Injury vs. Eagles
New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo sustained a serious ankle injury during the team’s Week 8 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The incident occurred as Skattebo attempted to haul in a pass over the middle from quarterback Jaxson Dart. Eagles linebacker Zack Baun made contact just as the ball arrived, twisting Skattebo awkwardly to the ground. As he was tackled, Skattebo’s legs were caught beneath him, and when he stood up, his right ankle appeared visibly displaced.
Team medical staff quickly attended to Skattebo on the field before he was carted off with his right leg secured in an air cast. He was later transported to a Philadelphia-area hospital for further evaluation.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Skattebo underwent surgery to repair a dislocated ankle and is expected to make a full recovery ahead of the 2026 season.
“If all goes as expected and the surgery went well, he should be back without any long-term issues,” Rapoport said. “It’s a gruesome injury, but recovery outcomes are generally positive — similar to what we saw with Dak Prescott. So, 2026 for Cam Skattebo.”
The Giants officially confirmed on Oct. 26 that Skattebo suffered an ankle dislocation and would miss the remainder of the 2025 season.
